About Edithburgh Tidal Pool

The Edithburgh Tidal Pool provides a safe and unique place to swim. Originally the tidal pool was on the southern side of the jetty to cater for the ladies as mixed bathing was not permitted in the 1880s. As time went by they decided to build another pool for men. The jetty was a very busy port so very often no one was able to swim in the area around it, so the pool provided a safe alternative. The mens pool remains and continues to provide this today. There is now a beautiful mural surrounding the pool, with marine and bird life depicted. Painted by local artist Darryl Lewis, this is a new addition to the unique tidal pool. The pool has undergone a number of facelifts over the years. Swimming lessons are offered via the Vacswim program, contact them for details. ...
